Christchurch Needle Work Guild has just spent a very successful weekend at Hornby Working Mens Club at the "Celebrating The Arts" Festival". It was run by the Christchurch Community Arts Council and featured an art exhibition, concert of music and dance performances and displays by craft groups. Our Guild staged a stunning display and also offered the chance for people of all ages to make themselves a brooch of beads and buttons, or a pincushion with gingham embroidery. Our Stand also showed off the three classes we have planned for the next 3 months. They are, silk ribbon and singed chiffon roses, a scarf with wool embroidery and goldwork embroidery.
We are also running our childrens' class again  at Risingholme on a Thursday after school.

Hi Guys, The next meeting of the Christchurch Needle Work Guild will be held on Saturday 5th May at 10am. We were unable to get Risingholme so we are meeting at 277 Hills Rd in the sleep out.
We are going to apply to be an Incorporated Society so we need to work on our constitution.
As well as the business we can have some fun making different sorts of tassels.
You will need to bring some spare thread, needle and scissors.
Hope to see you there,

Hi Guys,
Just a reminder about the meeting on Saturday to formally set up the Christchurch Needle Work Guild.
Coming to the meeting does not commit you to anything so come and talk to us about what you would want from a guild. What type of meetings and events would interest you. ]I have been collecting books about needlework so that we can have a library ( small to start with) of books that members can borrow..
Hope to see lots of people on Saturday.

We did heaps of stitching at Sydenham on Saturday even though the wind kept threatening to lift the gazebo.
Don't forget the meeting on Saturday. We are planning to organise several classes for the Guild.
At the moment we are planning silk ribbon embroidery and a from of crazy patchwork using knitting and crochet. We will have samples at the meeting on Saturday but if there are other types of embroidery or needle work you would like to try let us know at the meeting or email us and we will try to make it happen.
Hope to see you Saturday

Hi Guys,
Sorry about the short notice but I am new to on line notices.
A group of stitchers, knitters, and spinners will be at the old Sydenham School site in Colombo St, Sydenham tomorrow from about 10am to mid afternoon. It is a gapfiller type event to publicise the lack of space in the city for the crafts after the quakes.
We would love to chat to you as we work.

Christchurch Needlework Guild

Hi Guys, I would like to introduce the new needlework guild in town.
The Christchurch Needlework Guild is being formed by a small group of Christchurch stitchers and we are holding an inaugural meeting next weekend, Saturday 14th April at 10am.
The meeting will be at the Noeline Bull Room, Risingholme Community Centre.Go down the long drive at No.99 Hawford Rd, Opawa to the car park and come and see what we are offering.
I am an embroiderer and felter and one of our other members is a fabulous beader.(hopefully in my next blog I will post some photos of our work.)
At the new guild we are planning to hold classes, workshops, stitch groups and fellowship.
All needleworkers are welcome.
